Amy is the Visiting teacher in the Auckland region.
She had wanted to look after children since she was around three or four years of age and with this love in mind she enrolled at AIT (Auckland Institute of Technology) in 1994 and completed her National Nanny Certificate with her following on the next year to complete a Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care. With these two under her belt, Amy worked in Auckland as a nanny for two families before flying off to the Cayman Islands, BWI, to nanny for another two families. She then moved to the United Kingdom and again, worked as a nanny in Putney, London. With a British Passport to her name, she then travelled throughout the UK and Europe, focusing specifically on the coast of Spain and spending time on the Rock of Gibraltar, a place where her father and grandmother were born and raised.
Jump forward to 2006 and Amy decided she wanted to up skill and teach primary aged children. She enrolled at the University of Auckland and completed her Bachelor of Education, Primary, graduating in 2009. Amy taught at two Auckland primary schools, focusing on New Entrants, before leaving teaching to give birth to her son Hunter, in June of 2011. In early 2013 Amy started working for Rockmybaby® as the Visiting Teacher for Auckland. She worked closely with Ursula and has watched as the Homebased side of Rockmybaby® has grown from two to 13 in the last four years. She loves working with such an amazing team.
In January 2016 Amy and Hunter got chosen by their then, eight-week-old English Staffordshire Bull Terrier, whom they named Ferdinand (Ferdy) and they knew their family was complete. The three of them now enjoy bush and beach walks, fishing, swimming and spending time with their family and friends.
