Ko Sjahrne Haitana-Nesbit taku ingoa. He uri ahau no Ngati Rangi, Tuwharetoa me Atihaunui-a-papārangi. Sjahrne currently resides in Manawatu with her husband and children.
Sjahrne’s teaching philosophy involves building respectful, responsive, reciprocal relationships with tamariki and their whānau. Sjahrne believes it takes a village to raise a child and alongside whānau educators play an important role in shaping young minds. Sjahrne believes a curious, inquisitive, investigative, unhurried approach to teaching and learning allows space for children to become problem solvers and develop their own working theories about the world around them.
Sjahrne’s educational path began in Te Kohanga reo alongside her own children, and this is where her passion for teaching began. Sjahrne went on to complete her BTCHLN (Bachelor teaching and Learning), DipMPA (Diploma Māori performing arts), ALPP (Aspiring Leadership Pathways programme) and has just completed her first year of MEd (Masters of Ed). Sjahrne wears many hats outside of work and always willing to help wherever she can.
